OnePlus Nord 2 price in India, launch date, specs and leaks
The OnePlus Nord 2 will be the follow-up to the very popular OnePlus Nord from 2020, proving its worth in the mid-range segment. A year, the company is looking to replicate the same success with its successor.
Nord is a series of devices under OnePlus which are way more affordable than their flagship siblings while offering the essential that consumers have enjoyed for years. The lineup includes the OnePlus Nord and Nord CE in India, while there are a few cheaper devices in other markets. The OnePlus Nord 2 however seems set for global availability.

OnePlus Nord 2 release date and price in India
Launching on July 22
The OnePlus Nord 2 will launch on July 22 in India and Europe via a livestream scheduled for 7.30 pm IST. The sale date has not been announced yet, but we expect it to be available during Amazon Prime Day which is slated for July 26 and 27.
As for the Indian pricing, we expect the OnePlus Nord to start at around Rs 30,000 while the higher variants could be closer to Rs 35,000. While that would make the Nord 2 slightly more expensive over its predecessor — fitting right between the Nord CE and OnePlus 9R in terms of the pricing. There are likely to be two variants of the device, but we wouldn't be surprised to see a third lower variant with limited availability just to achieve a lower starting price.
Update (July 22): With just a few hours left to the launch, a new OnePlus Nord 2 pricing from tipster suggests the 8GB+128GB variant will be priced at Rs 29,999 while the top of the line 12GB+256GB variant is expected to be at Rs 34,999.
Update (July 15): a tipster states that the Nord 2 will be priced at Rs 31,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant and Rs 34,999 for the 12GB+256GB. Colour options will be Grey Sierra, Blue Haze and Green Woods.
OnePlus Nord 2 specs and features
- Display: 6.43-inch AMOLED, 90Hz refresh rate
- Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 1200 AI
- Camera: 50MP + 8MP + 2MP
- Battery: 4,500mAh
- Charging: 30W
- Software: Oxygen OS 11
The OnePlus Nord 2 will be powered by a special version of the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset with beefed-up AI capabilities. Unlike other smartphones from the company, it should be able to support all 5G bands. This is an octa-core chipset with a peak frequency of 3GHz. We expect to see a maximum of 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage available.
As for the design, a leak suggests that it will look quite similar to the OnePlus 9 Pro — which itself looks very similar to all the other recent OnePlus smartphones. On the back will be three cameras in a rectangular camera housing while the front will have a 6.43-inch AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate.
The most exciting expected upgrade on the OnePlus Nord 2 comes with the cameras. As per a leak, the Nord 2 will use the Sony IMX 766 image sensor for the primary camera. The same sensor was used on the 9 Pro’s excellent ultra-wide camera. There is some conflicting information around this bit, but a great camera would fix the first Nord’s biggest weakness. The other lenses are likely to be an ultra-wide camera and a depth sensor.
As with other OnePlus phones this season, the Nord 2 is said to come with a 4,500mAh battery. It remains to be seen if it too will make the jumpt to 65W fast charging. It could also be the first phone to run on the unified operating system that will look like Oxygen OS but use Color OS’ codebase for quicker updates and higher stability.
What we want to see on the OnePlus Nord 2
The OnePlus Nord wasn't really class-leading in any way, but it offered a good balance between features and price. Here's how the OnePlus Nord 2 can achieve the same.
65W fast charging
The entire OnePlus 9 series supports Warp Charge 65, which can refuel the device in under 40 minutes. With the Nord 2 expected to go up in terms of pricing, we would like 65W charging to make the cut.
Better cameras
The OnePlus 9 Pro was a leap in terms of camera performance. However, the other devices from the brand are still quite average in terms of camera performance. With the Nord 2 aiming to be a mass-market product, it should have a better primary camera.
Stronger software support
Once a strong point of OnePlus, the last few years have been quite average in terms of updates and bug fixes. With the new integration with Oppo, we hope to see the Oxygen OS on the Nord 2 be supported for longer.
